Channel letters are letters or logos that stand separately as advertising material on the exterior façades of buildings. During the day, 3d letters are clearly visible and during dark hours high visibility is also guaranteed when properly illuminated.
During the 20 years of activity, we have produced letters using more than 300 fonts and come across all kinds of unexpected situations. Sometimes, technical requirements might restrict artistic freedom, but we can use our know-how to advise you on obtaining an appropriate result.
Where to use channel letters
Channel letters are the most frequently used form of illuminated advertising after illuminated boxes and are most often used for displaying a company logo on building roofs or façades. Channel letters can ideally be used when the logo has no specific background colour; in this case, every letter with the logo element can be made to shine against the background of the building or the sky.
Channel letters differ from illuminated boxes in that letters can be illuminated to the back which gives a wider range of solutions. The best solution results in cooperation with experienced designers and architects – together they can offer the best ideas considering the shape of the logo and building tonality.
What determines the price of channel letters
The most significant influence on price is the size of the logo characterized also by the number of letters. This influences material and work hours required. The next aspect is choice of profile, although this is of much less significance.
Always consider the cost of transportation and installation (and make sure whether it is a part of the offer). It is of great importance if the logo is at ladder height or on the level of the 14th floor.
Different solutions or profiles
A solution that uses glowing neon tubes that emphasise the letter profile. Neon light gives the letters a unique colour effect which cannot be replicated using other means. Highly suited for indoor and outdoor use with next to no restrictions on font type.
A solution where the letters are off the wall and LED lights are directed from within the letter to the wall behind. Light is created around the letters which makes them clearly seem to be away from the wall. By varying the intensity and distance of the light, different moods can be created. Using back-lit letters is well suited to shopping centre interiors if the viewing distance is not too great.
This profile is suited for use with larger letters and logos in exterior conditions. Profile 4 allows for much larger letter and logos which are clearly visible from the distance.
One of the most common solutions for channel letters which can be used in interior and exterior conditions. LED lighting makes the letters clearly legible and visible from the distance.
This profile is one of the most respectable solutions as the front surface is unobstructed, allowing the LED light to pass through the entire letter. Profile 6 is very suited to narrow fonts where an edge cover would significantly influence appearance.
In this solution light is only directed through the Plexiglas used on the sides of the letter. The solution is suitable where the letters have a nice background and the viewing distance is not that great. It is often used in interior conditions by reception desks.
These letters are built using a technique that is used for extra-large solutions. The front surface uses PVC backlit banner fabric which allows LED light to pass through very nicely.
This solution is well suited to exterior conditions where the letters are on the façade of a building and the façade should also be emphasised. In the night, the channel letters are highly visible as is the beauty of the exterior wall.
